cp command question

Hi all folks,

What will be the correct syntax for 'cp' command to copy all files

1) asking for confirmation to overwrite
2) without asking for confirmation to overwrite

Any other command/commands applicable, more convenient?

Thanks in advance.

cp -i /home/USER/download/* /etc/application

cp /home/USER/download/* /etc/application

man cp

To see the different options you can have with cp.

EDIT: Just a bit of clarification, the -i option prompts you before you overwrite. Omitting it, of course, does not prompt you before you overwrite.
