"cp: cannot stat" running a perl installer script

Hola amigos:

Running xubuntu I am trying to install Diogenes, a browser for greek and latin texts databases.
The installer is found here:
http://www.dur.ac.uk/p.j.heslin/Soft...ux_install.php

I have checked the installer script, which is a small perl script, and I think the following line may be the culprit:

system "sudo cp -a diogenes $install_dir" and die $!;

And the error message I am getting is this one:

cp: cannot stat `diogenes': No such file or directory
Bad file descriptor...

Do I need to change any basic syntax here? Is there any obvious problem?

Thanks in advance

Juan

In the first place you need to be in the dir that contains diogenes.
Secondly, I'd say that line should be

system "sudo cp -a diogenes $install_dir" or die $!;
