Couple of questions from a newbie
 

-Can I partition stuff like in the install, I wanted to pre-partition (to make a duel boot system) my hard-disk before I installed SUSE 9.2 but the bootmanager fucked up and destroyed my windows install. After I uninstalled it and tryed to install SUSE it said it couldn't access my partitions (the bootmanager I used recommended I set the partitions to TRUE hide or something like that, could it be that?). Now I am stuck with a 2 gig part of my hard disk on linux which sux. Can anyone give me some tips on how to resize the partitions so I can have to decent space?
-Can I set the resolution higher 1280 x 960? its abit small like this
-Can anyone explain (or point me to a tutorial) the filesystem. When I click on Harddisk then I come on some part named data1, were nothing is installed. I have my own file folder and there are alot of other folders which I don't understand.
-I have a thrust 450L optical mouse (5 buttons + scrollwheel), where can I find linux drivers for it cause only 2 buttons work
-I wanted to install thunderbird and when I dled it I only got a .tar.gz package with alot of files but no installer. How do you usually install such things?
-Are there any good games for linux?

on the subject of mouse, you souldn't need drivers you just need to edit your xorg or xfree configs to reflect your choices.

xorg, xfree? Where can I find those?

Another question:
-Is there an easy way to set up an ftp server to share some files with a couple of friends?

you will either have Xfree86 or Xorg already, they are the 2 main implementations of X servers.

btw, try xf86config, (or xorgconfig), from there you can config your mouse, resolution, lots of things :)

run a terminal (for example xterm)

It says: Can't run command
Only with xf86config it doesn't say anything, but it doesn't do anything either. How do I run a terminal? (I just did run command)

Ok, now I get a whole range of prompts for options (in which I could seriously mess stuff up) while I just want to set my mouse + resolution. Is there a GUI way to set those things?

Just take your time working through the prompts, if you fuck it up just start again :)

There probably is a gui but I don't know what it is

I really don't like thouching the command-line tools. There's alot of stuff pre-set and I just don't know stuff like how much memory my video card has in kBit or what the horizontal refresh rate is of my monitor. Just want to change the resolution here...
I would really like some answers about the partitioning stuff. It's my biggest problem here. Also my sound doesn't work. I have a creative SB Live! 5.1 speakers and it says its up and running but I haven't heard my pc making any noise since I installed linux. I tryed changing the volume, some settings but nothing works. And I am having another minor issues, the SUSE watcher says it can't connect to the update services while I am connected to the internet.
