Could someone provide step-by-step instructions for uninstallation of openSUSE 11.1?
 

Hello,

I'm a light Linux user, usually more for fun and escape from Windows than practical full-time use.

However, until Windows 7 is released, I will be using Linux/Vista straight-up.

I have always been partial to PCLinuxOS, but a friend praised openSUSE 11.1 KDE and I decided to give it a shot. However, I don't like openSUSE enough to make it my final distro.

I will be uninstalling openSUSE 11.1 and using Windows Vista until PCLinuxOS 2009 is released, which I will ultimately switch to because I love PCLOS.

I don't want to make a mistake and have to reinstall Windows again...

Could someone give me detailed instruction on how to completely remove openSUSE from my hard drive and not have any residue, like the GRUB bootloader. (I'd like to leave the partitions untouched.) Remember that I'm using the latest KDE version and not GNOME.

If you have a lot of patience and want to help me out, it would be hugely appreciated!

Just boot from the windows cd and install windows.
Make windows use the complete HD
Windows will also remove grub from the MBR

If you're dual booting at present, then just boot Windows and run "fixmbr". This will rewrite the Master Boot Record, and Grub will disappear. Reboot Windows to verify Linux/Grub is gone, and then do what you like with the Linux partition from within Windows.

i think you can remove SuSe just by formating the partition it's installed on.
as for the grub, you will have to restore windows bootloader into MBR, which i believe can be done using some windows recovery tool, possibly on the windows install cd

I would do what Quakeboy02 said above. It's the easiest and quickest way with no hassles (asuming Vista still has the "fixmbr" program).
