When i open media files as mp3 and video files avi, the player could not find the required plugins. It keeps on searching but at last no plugins are downloaded?
download the restricted codecs, do yum install vlc ,it will download the player along with the required codecs and also search for gstreamer plugins, that should solve your problem.
If you have problems installing plugins, please try the VLC player. It plays stuff very well (except video DVD's, there you need a seperate plugin again).
