Could not open hello for reading

Hello,

I am trying to load hello.c in my software but it says that it could not open it for reading...

I kept the hello.exe and hello.c in the same directory from where i run the program and it says it cant open the file...

Why would you have an .exe file on a linux box?
Maybe post the ls -l for the files.
What are the permissions?
