Angry Could not open default font 'fixed'??

Hello

I've installed Mandrake 8.2 on my computer and its not recognizing my monitor even when I use a generic monitor. I keep getting this phrase: Could not open default font 'fixed'

What does this mean and how do I fix this?? I'm new to Linux so I don't know much about it but I'm learning quite fast.

Thankyou

The two times that I've had this happen to me, was because I ran totally out of drive space.
