Corrupted Filesystem..? Need help ASAP.

I just got back from vacation to find that our Linux machine will not boot. I get this error upon bootup:
Couldn't find matching filesystem: LABEL=/data2

Where do I start? I'm going through my "Linux Bible" right now, but thought if an expert here read this first, they might be able to point me in the right direction....Thanks much.

Could you maybe give some info on exactly when you get this message? (e.g. lilo/before kernel loads, after kernel is loaded etc.)
