Core graphics programming in Linux

Dear Friends;

Can you please tell me how core graphics programming can be done using C in linux . As in using graphics.h header file in turbo c in DOS. So that I will only add the header file and simply write -
say drawline(x1,y1,x2,y2) it will drawthe line having given coordinates

There are many libraries I know of to look at, and might be another way of doing things that I am not aware of. The type of graphics I believe you were doing on was using the built in DOS graphics screens.

libsvga would give you console graphics capabilities.

SDL will give you game powered graphics, but requires Windows or xorg to run.

cario can give you nice graphics capabilities, and can be connected to different platforms, such as win32, gtk as well as drawing svg files or pdf files, and probably other features I haven't looked into yet.

Those are the 2D graphics libraries I can think of. You will need to install those to use of course and add the header files and link files when you compile.

-EDIT- I reread and see you dont mean libraries... I'm sorry. So far in my studies I haven't found a way to do this, however that doesn't mean you cant, I just haven't found it yet
