I want to copy pictures from a CD to my HP Photo program on the desktop. Can anyone help me?

Which distro are you using, and which window manager? In most newer distros an icon will pop up on the Gnome or KDE desktop when a CD is inserted. Clicking that should open a file manager window and you can drag and drop files to your desktop from there. To tell you more we need to know what you are using.

Good luck.
