Copy the files between Vmware Guest -Host
 
HI,


My RHEL version is
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4(Nanhant update 6)

I installed Linux on vmware.My host is win xp.Am able to ping guest as well host.How i can copy the files from host to guest.

Please provide me the steps to do this.

There are three ways.

1) Use FTP or another network protocol like SAMBA or NFS to transfer the files just like you would if they were two separate PCs and not host and guest.

2) Set up shared folders in vmware, giving the guest read/write access to them. Detailed instructions for doing this are included in the vmware help documentation.

3) Install the vmware tools on the guest, then you can just drag and drop back and forth from guest to host and vice-versa.

1. Set up samaba share in your Linux guest and give write access to the share, so that you can copy and paste files from host xp to guest Linux.

2. Set up ftp server in your Linux guest and give upload access which will serve your purpose.
