copy from terminal to clipboard

I've always wondered how people copied stuff they typed into the terminal to the forums. I'm using fluxbox and aterm, and what I usually had to do was output the stream to a file, put it on my webserver, open it in firefox and then use copy and paste there to paste the stuff into linuxquestions.

eg.
dmesg > dmesg
firefox dmesg

How do people usually do this? Cause the way I do it is rather... long

i'm on suse kde and i generally do:
select the text with my mouse
middle mouse button click into this window (that pastes 'the text selected from anywhere')

/edit: <Ctrl><Shift>+Insert also pastes any text selected.

Using aterm just hold down your left mouse button and drag it.
If you have a wheelbutton you can use it to paste the text where you want it.
