Copied initrd.img to a new location

Hi,

Using RedHat Enterprise I am trying to complete an exercise.

The instructions are to copy the relevant kernel's initrd file into /tmp/try

It will boot and give me a shell and an option to navigate through its file system(ls, cat, cd) which means I have to add them to the relevant directories.

Then recompress it, and edit the grub.conf file to the last line:
initrd /tmp/try/initrd-2.6.9-34.EL.img

But then grub cannot find it when I shut down the machine and boot again.

Help me please !!
