Converting XML documents to ODT in Mint 17.3 Mate

Some of the documents that I migrated from Windows 7 came over with xml extentions and can't be opened with Libre or anything else.
Is there a xml/odt converter that I can use?

xml is a very versatile and widespread format; what do those files contain? where do they come from? some additional info is needed.
you can't just convert any xml file to a document format. it depends on what that file contains.

I haven't checked them all but they seem to be mostly documents that I saved from either email copies and articles or images from the internet.
I will go through all my files and make a list.

I have checked and their origin and content vary.
Some are text documents that I created others are images and documents that I downloaded.
Amongst these are some .js files as well as .xml

The selection of files that now have .xml or .js extensions seem to be random and without any specific order or target.

When I open any one of them all I get is a bunch of code.

xml is just a formatting for text files

you can use gedit or kate or emacs to read it
or just open it as a text file in Libreoffice

now the formatting that will be a issue

think of it like a normal html web formatted text file

that "code" is the formatting -- the layout on the web page or email

Oops !!!

I appears to be pilot error AGAIN !!!!

I checked the original files on my external hard drive where I had them backed up and the extensions were .xml and .js
So they did not change during the migration.

HOWEVER:- I could read them in Win 7 with MS word without any trouble yet Libreoffice can't read them
Curioser and curiouser

well without some real example and/or a technical (not personal as in post #4) explanation there's not much to do to help you.
