Convert .doc files to txt


Hello,
I have some files that were originally txt files just some poems, but now I have tried to convert them to .txt files.

I have tried catdoc. I cannot it/them get to work/

Can you just open them in LibreOffice and save as text from there one by one. Or they're too many and you want to process them in batch? Then how about

soffice --headless --convert-to txt *.doc

The Apache Tika™ toolkit detects and extracts metadata and text from over a thousand different file types.

Java program. Runs on Windows, Mac, Linux distro's , BSD... No install needed, just JAVA runtime.
Runs from commandline and as GUI.
Exports as text, html, xml...

Might need to know more about this specific .doc file.

I like the soffice solution if you have it installed.

Another might be Docx2txt.

catdoc (great name btw) works just fine for me.
Another option could be pandoc.
