I bought a new PC, the motherboard did not have a serial port so I bought a controller card (serial port card) and installed the hardware, after I intalled Ubuntu 7.04 and all worked fine including the com port 1.

Now I decided that I need another serial port, so I bought another controller card (serial port card) exactly like the one I had installed.

What happened is that the new card that I installed became com port1 but com port 2 does not work.

Any help on what to check and what to do will help.

Note: I did not install any drivers as I don't know how and if they are required or not.

I just check in the Device manager, and both cards seem to be installed but only com port 1 works

1 serial device /dev/ttyS0 serial port 0(0x0)
2 serial devide /dev/ttyS2 serial port 2(0x2)

at least that is what it looks like.

Can I change com 3 to com 2 as the program that i use only has options for com 1 and com 2
