Unhappy Continuously running do I stop it?

Tried to configure kdevelop...process has been running for two hours...I cannot open a terminal or swith to command line. Should I reboot? Will rebooting mess up my settings on my server?? Is there anything I can do other than reboot? I am using Redhat 9.0

type "ctl + alt + F1"

this will bring you to virtual terminal 1.

type "ctl + alt + F7" will bring you to the XServer again

ps -A | more

This will show you all the processes currently running.

find the processID of the process you want to terminate and type

kill 4352

replacing 4352 with the process ID of the process you want to terminate.

ps -A | more

again to check that the process does not exist
