Continuos short freezing
While running any sort of screensaver, games with moving backgrounds, etc. it always goes for about half a second, then a quarter-second freeze, half-second move, 1/4 sec freeze again, and keeps on doing this.
Hardware: ATI Radeon 9600XT AMD 3200+ 2GB RAM nVidia motherboard Fedora core 5 Kernel 2.6.17 I had previously been running Slackware 10.2, with 512MB ram, and an AMD 2600+ with a 2.6.14 kernel. Any assistance resolving this issue would be much appreciated. |
What video driver are you using? Switch to vesa temporarily to see if that points the finger to a video problem. Also check the top, vmstat, free, w, etc. commands. Anything suspicious in your syslog?

Actually, just been trying a couple of things, and it's more than just animations: It's pretty much everything; scrolling through web pages, the balls in KBounce, the loading of things in stellarium, selecting text, or even doing a repeating task in text (ie: holcing a key down, like backspace or an arrow key).
Makes me think that there may be something wrong with the control of the processor. I have Windows running on another drive, and I have not experienced any of the same problems in it, so I know it is not an issue with the hardware itself. |
