Console Question

Why is it that when I type xmms in super user console I get this error:

linux:/home/snocked # xmms
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

** CRITICAL **: Unable to open display
linux:/home/snocked #

It works fine and loads xmms in bash.

I'm assuming that you initially logged into X as a non-root user and then su'd to root. If this is the case, root does not have permission to write to the X display. To fix, use "xhost + localhost" before you su.
