console mode command
Hi, I'm a newbie. Maybe this is a stupid question. In the console mode, when I want to edit / open a file .txt, I can use pico or cat command. But what if I want to open a file.doc or file.ppt from a console mode? note that my Linux have open office in it. thx in advance.

well isn't .ppt a MS powerpoint file ?
if it is, then your going to need presentation software to open that ... as of a .doc file, you will be able to view it with a text editor but it will have all kinds of crazy non-characters in it also ... you will need openoffice or staroffice or even as far as MS office running with wine to be able to view it correctly ... |
yeach, I have open office in my Mandrake. How to open that file in open office from console mode?for example, in windows cmd,you can easilly type : "d:>text.ppt" if you're file is in D:. What about linux? Thx!
