Console Message.

If I go into my Console I get the following message "SRO: CDR not ready, make sure there is a disk in the drive" The only way that I can get signed in is by putting a CD into the drive. Otherwise all I see is the above message scroll down the screen.
Is there some program running, if so how do I find it, to shut it down.? Or is there some other issue.?

You need to post your distribution and version. Are you running in X? What window manager or desktop?

But at a guess, there's some kind of daemon running that's watching your cd drive. Find that daemon and kill it.

Try ps ax at the command line and look for something with cd in the command name.

I am using Libranet 2.8.1 with a 2.4.25 kernel. Running in KDE.
OK. if I run ps ax the only line that I found that had any reference to cd was the following.
634 ? S 0:00 kscd -session 117f000001000108092541600000013780126_1 If this is the problem do I just do a " killall kscd" ?

It won't do any harm to try, and it'll probably work. kscd is a KDE CD-player, not some essential system process.

I did a "killall kscd" then rebooted, and that has fixed the problem. Mant thanks to all, I appreciate the time and advise, given to an old NEWBIE.
