console commands for gui actions

Hello?

In GUI, are there console commands that I can see
while GUI actions are performed simultaneously?

For instance, if I launch OpenOffice in GUI, I'd like to
see equivalent console commands that accomplish
the same thing.

Thanks.

only way I can think of is to open the menu editor (in KDE right click on the K and select menu editor). In the editor clicking on an item shows the command used to start it.

Hi mike33,

Thanks for your comments.

What about while an action is performed in GUI?
Can I see some equivalent console commands?

For instance, as I perform various actions in OpenOffice
under GUI, I'd like to see what's really going on behind
the scene in a separate console window which I can either
enable for viewing the equivalent console commands or disable
if I do not want such viewing.

At one point, I think I came across seeing a separate
console window with equivalent console commands while
launching OpenOffice under GUI. That was nice, but then
the console window was closed out so quickly.

It would be nice if I could see some equivalent console
commands in a separate console window while GUI actions
are being performed as I mentioned above.

I'm thinking along the line of configuring some settings for
displaymanager in /etc/sysconfig or something like that.

I'd appreciate if anyone has any idea.

Thanks.
