I have downloaded the FC4 disks, but every time I run a :linux mediacheck the disk comes back failing.
I downloaded the disks from the fedora.redhat.com download server
The sha1sum for the ISO checks out
I burned it at 1x speed
I tried multiple burners, all producing the same problematic disk.
Are you sure that the CDs are no good?
I've read several members on LQ that have had the same problem. The .iso checksummed ok, they burned it to disk, and the disk failed the media check. They said that they used the disk anyway and all was ok. Have you tried to install with it? If the .iso checksummed ok then the disk is untampered with.
aha, i figured out the problem. Apparently, if your processor is overclocked, it gives the mediacheck error. Once I kicked my processor down to it's native speed, it flowed like milk and honey.
If your md5 sums were right, then don't bother with the media check. Its very buggy and even when you haven't overclocked your system, it still fails on most occassions.
Im gonna Hijack this thread nobody make any sudden moves,
I am having the same problem checksums ok, media check failed
tried linux ide=nodma still nothing
I cannot skip media test it still fails
tried differant burning programs and disks
also my processor isnt overclocked
