ConnochaetOS 14.1 - default root password?
I recently downloaded ConnochaetOS and installed into an OLD PC. but 3 things. ONE. I never scene anywhere where it said what the default root password.
2. how do i make it with is slack base log into X automatically. and 3. how would I stop it from turning off the screen after 10 minutes. I am trying to utilize ConnochaetOS as a basic Dashboard PC to control a basic monitor. i might upgrade to Raspberry PI instead. but had this PC doing absolutely nothing. |
1. Not familiar with this distro, can you log on as user and do 'sudo -i'?
2. There are several ways to accomplish this, without installing any login managers it can be done in ~/.bash_profile. 3. Discover xset command. This should give you ideas what to search for, using your favorite search engine. |
Not familiar with this distro, but if it's Slackware-based:
You can likely set the screen to not blank in /etc/rc.d/rc.M for the console. For the WM, it depends on which one you're using. There's usually a "Power Settings" option in the System Settings dialog. As for starting X automatically, you can set the default runlevel from 3 to 4 in /etc/inittab. Slackware asks you to set the root password on install. Guessing that didn't happen here? Like I mentioned, I'm not specifically familiar with this distro. The above works on Slackware. |
