Connecttion closed after some time

I am facing problem while connection to host (Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 5)) via putty.

when ever i try to connect host machine via putty/ssh, connection is established succussfully but just after few minutes it disconnectes . same is the problem if i connect using VNC. I did't made any configuration changes in recent past, earlier every thing was fine.

Can somebody help me in solving this?

Regards,
Ken

Not with such little information. You're connecting via putty..is it running on Windows or Linux? Are you on the same network, same building, wide area, what??

Since VNC is doing it as well, they're using different ports and services. Chances are, you've got a network problem somewhere. Have the network checked out, and you can always call RedHat, since you're paying for support with your RHEL purchase.

putty is on windows.

Yesterday i was at the site where physically servers were placed and i was on the same network (but with different subnet, may be this was the cause of problem). At that site i was facing problem while connecting from putty. Once connection established it becomes disconnected after couple of minutes.

Now i am back to remote site from where I can connect to same server without any problem, and established connection from putty remains connected as long as i want ....

Ok, so it's obviously a network problem. Get the network guys to check things out, and see what it's doing. Also, something that jumps to mind, is that are you using DHCP or a static address? Since when you're onsite you have problems, you could be using the same IP address as another box, which would cause a problem.
