connecting via nforce2 nic & thomson/rca cable modem

How do I connect to the internet using my onboard nforce2 nic and a thomson/rca cable modem via Comcast? I've already installed the nforce2 drivers from nvidia, but I don't know what to do next. I've done some reading but am getting more confused. I'm very new to linux, and so far this forum has been a great help, so thanks in advance! btw, I'm running 2.4.20 slackware distro

try doing a modprobe command followed by the name of the driver: let's say the name of the driver is e100, type modprobe e100 inside a terminal

make sure the driver really installed, look under /usr/src/linux/kernelversion/(browse through these folders) and see if u can find the driver

once u do modprobe, do ifconfig eth0 up

i would refer you to type "neat" in the terminal and go to "hardware" see if there is anything in there. If there is one named "nvnet" which mine had displayed for my nvidia nic. The i think the next thing you need to do was to set the ip addess or just by doing neat again in the terminal and then click new to add a network device. IN that process, it'll ask you about the ip address.

Then i think everything should ready to go!
Good luck to you!
