Connecting to my fresh install of RedHat 8 with FTP client

Please help...

I just installed RedHat 8.0. I need to transfer a file on my internal network to this server. I checked to see if ftp was running on the server by typing

netstat -anp | grep

it responded as listening. I go to my client, using an old version of CUTEFTP (ver 4.0) and I cannot connect...message says...password not accepted. Do I have to setup special FTP users on my server or can I log on from the client using root and the password?

My CUTEFTP screen looks like this..

URL: Username: root Password: ******

will this work?

Thanks for working with this very NEWBIE!

Figured it out!

Got it. I guess...the rule is you just keep trying until you get it.
