connecting to linux server through another computer

How can i connect my Fedora Ver.4 (linux) to my windows xp system and be able to share internet and accept incoming connections,,

for example i can use internet on both comps, then goto my friends house connect through ip and see those same files on my server,

Ps: Is it better to have windows comp as host or not!

I would use the Linux box as host. you will need 2 network cards in your linux box if you plan to allow your other computers to access the internet through it.

Install firestarter yum install firestarter (as root)
http://www.redhat.com/magazine/010au...s/#firestarter

Check the box in firestarter for 'Internet connection Sharing' so you can give the windows box access through the linux machine. http://www.fs-security.com/docs/connection-sharing.php

Allow SSH connections to the linux box from outside.
use ssh, scp, and sftp to access and copy files to and from the linux box securely..

http://www.cc.gatech.edu/cns/docs/ssh/

You can use Putty or Winscp on a windows machine to get ssh, scp, and sftp functionality.. http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~s.../download.html

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
