I can ping between my Win 2K system and my Linux box. In order to transfer files between the two do I have to set up some sort of share on my Linux computer?

To setup a Linux "share" accessable by windows, or a windows share accessable by Linux, you need Samba. To download Samba browse on over to http://us2.samba.org/samba/download.html and click on samba-latest.tar.gz.

Samba can be a little bit tricky to setup sometimes so I would recommend preparing to spend a good afternoons worth of time to get it working. If you simply want a way to transfer files between the three machines, perhaps you'd want to setup an ftp server on your linux box? Most distro's come with some sort of ftp server already installed and configured. If anything you might need to check your /etc/initd.conf to make sure ftp is not commented out.
