Connecting through VNC

Hi there,
I set a VNC server on my linux box and a vnc viewer on my windowsXP laptop. On the linux box, I went into command mode and set a password and got back a host of localhost.localdomain:1, but when i start my vnc viewer and enter this as the host, I get a message saying "failed to get server address". Any ideas? Thanks!

If you are running the vnc viewer only on localhost, it won't be accessible to other computers. Localhost means literally that: the current computer.

Make sure the vnc server is set to listen on your network interface and not just localhost.
