Unhappy Connecting Skytex to Wireless Network

I just received a Skytex-SX-E700 Minibook with a Linux OS. The instruction book that came with it is written very poorly as if the writer does not know English very well, and there are many mispellings (Netword for Network). Herein lies the problem: I am unable to decifer the instructions for connecting the computer to my home network. It keeps telling me there is no network, but I know there is because I'm using it right now!

Please! Is there anyone who can give me clear directions about how to connect this computer to my wireless network and therefore utilize this computer? Thank you!

Hey Mcubed,
Sometimes a particular wireless just not show up for reason.
Can you see neighborhood's wireless?
Give SSID protection (no password) a try and see how it goes.

Any more question, please feel free to ask...

Thank you, Lozu, but I'm afraid I don't know what SSID protection is or where it is on the computer! I'm such a "Newbie"!

My son, who is a IT director for a major corporation says there is something wrong with the computer since it should have connected as soon as he put the password in. Everything is grayed out, so I don't know what to do.
