using windows as server? there is a free sshd server for windows: http://www.freesshd.com/
dunno how secure it is, don't forget to use properly configured firewall on both ends. iirc, ssh uses port 22.
in putty you just specify ip address.

btw, it might be a good idea to change default port, for security reasons.

I think ssh is not very useful on windows (unlike Linux).

for vnc, you can use ultravnc.

Do you have the server installed already?putty is just a tool to connect to the server later on.

i want to use REDhaT as server , want to access windowz xp , or 7

You're a bit confused on the client-server concept. If you are using a Redhat box to connect to a XP/7 box, then the Redhat box acts as the 'client' on this case, and the XP/7 acts as the 'server'.

Of course, your Redhat box can still be a web 'server', etc.

With that, you need to install a VNC 'server' on your XP/7 machine. You can use UltraVNC as mentioned by previously.

Let us know once done so we can proceed with the next. :))
