Connecting College Linux from Windows

Hi
Can any one tell me how to setup remote desktop connection for College Linux from Windows XP.
I have spent alot of time but got no where

putty is a nice program which will allow you to ssh your linux school box from your home windows xp.

not sure on the exact download page but a fast google.com search for download putty should get you there.

But putty is only a tunnel access, how about real GUI like winaxe or vnc
Well I have manage to configure vnc and I get connected from my linux to windows perfectly
but when I try to connect from windows to linux I only get one screen which allows me to run pogram only through terminal no KDE etc.
