Connecting & Installation Problems KDE

Re-installed Xandros 4.0 Premium at beginning of year. Was making good progress installing upgrades listed in Xandros Network. Why I even got Thunderbird installed and default Email Server, however, got this idea of Also including KDE Email as a server just to see what it's all about.

However, while trying to install and setup KDE Email I get the the following message/messages: (Installation problem was detected while trying to start KDE - No write access to /home/pmark/.ICEAuthority - KDE unable to start)

Other Problem Messages that Occurred (Could not start KSM Server. Could not read Network Connection List /home/pmark/.DCOPserver Program is running).

Is there anybody on the Forum that can give me any assistance on what this all means and what to do to restore my User Created Account. I have downloaded the Xandros Upgrades successfully without any glitches until I tried to setup KDE Email.

BTW all these comments/messages appear when I try to Login to my User Created Account. My Administrative (root) account has not been affected.

Your assistance would very much be appreciated.

Pete

hello, sounds like permisson problem possibly, first of all can you run as root and paste output of

ls -al /home/pmark/*
and
ls -ald /home/pmark

This will enable people to see what permission settings are currently in place and could possibly be causing you issues

It may all be as simple as once we get to see the output of above a
chmod -R 740 /home/pmark
and maybe as well
chown -R pmark:<groupname (optional)> /home/pmark

cheers

I don't have Xandros 4.0 Premium, or any Xandros 4.0, running, so this may be an ignorant Q; but I have never heard of a pkg. called "KDE Email", especially one that can run as a server.

What are you referring to & where can I find it?
