Confused here about sane -Xsane
Hi,
I am trying to once more get my HP 4400c working in Linux, so far I have downlaoded every RPM i can find of xsane and sane. Now sane I have idea how to gethis program to work? Xsane I type into the run command and it comes up to EULA and I agree to it then says "NO SUPPORTED SCANNERS FOUND" proceeds to shut down with out letting configure dodo on it. So I am open to suggestions here. I tried to upgrade my kernel but so far no luck in finding the source RPM. I upgraded all pakckages I could find to do and nothing? I know I am newbie but I think this gonna be great once I get the hang of it. ikw38....:Pengy: |
your beating a dead horse, that scanner isn't supported and probably never will be (unless hp/realtec releases some information on the propriatary chip that drives it. more info here,http://reapoff.sourceforge.net/hpscanner/Default.htm

IT seams there is something in the new kernel about this scanner (mine by the way is 4400C not 4470c.)
I wonder if my old Visoneer 6200 would work better? This old thang would not work XPEEE and I had to buy something would.?? I will giveit a try and maybe what I have to is have them both hooked so I can use then in both enviorments. Any more suggestions would be greatly apreciated. ikw38 |
4400c-4470c=same scanner, different button locations

I have an hp 4470c ( :( - the last hp things in my house, also cause windows drivers are more than unstable ) and i've tried the software you can find @
http://reapoff.sourceforge.net/hpscanner/Default.htm . But the sound of the scanner engine isn't that good..., it a lot too fast, and also only bw 600 dpi. EDIT: just found this, dated 30 august '03: http://home.foni.net/~johanneshub/ |
