I tried following the instructions here
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ticle&artid=17 to set up ProFTPD on my computer.
I think it is running fine. If I type "ftp localhost" I am able to login.
I want to be able to access my FTP server through my web browser. I set up a redirect on my domain ftp.mydomain.net that redirects to port 21 on my IP address.
When I enter ftp.mydomain.net in my browser, I get "Connection Refused"
When I enter my IP with a :21 at the end I get "Access to this port number has been disabled for security reasons"
What can I do to get this thing working?
Here is my config file:
# This is a basic ProFTPD configuration file (rename it to
# 'proftpd.conf' for actual use. It establishes a single server
# and a single anonymous login. It assumes that you have a user/group
# "nobody" and "ftp" for normal operation and anon.
ServerName "ProFTPD Default Installation"
ServerType standalone

# To prevent DoS attacks, set the maximum number of child processes
# to 30. If you need to allow more than 30 concurrent connections
# at once, simply increase this value. Note that this ONLY works
# in standalone mode, in inetd mode you should use an inetd server
# that allows you to limit maximum number of processes per service
# (such as xinetd).
MaxInstances 30

# want anonymous users, simply delete this entire <Anonymous> section.

That's it. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
