Question Configuring Remote Desktop In A Computer Remotely

I am running Ubuntu in my laptop. I would like to connect to my lab computer x.x.x.x through remote desktop. I realized that there should be some configurations done on a computer before we could view it remotely. Unfortunately, I don't know how my lab computer has been configured. Is there any way by which I could do it through an SSH session from my laptop i.e., can I configure remote desktop settings in my lab computer running Fedora Core 3, remotely?

I would greatly appreciate any help!

look for the configuration of vnc .

--> maybe /etc/sysconfig/vncconfig ?
Check google for the correct vnc-config.

then try to start the vnc-server. ( /etc/init.d/vncserver start )

ps: also look at 'vncpasswd'

If you have got ssh enabled at the remote system then you can ssh the remote machine and run the vino-preferences command. That will open a window through which you can configure your remote desktop settings.
Then you can use tsclient in your Ubuntu machine to connect to the remote Fedora machine.

configuration, desktop, remote, remotely
