Configuring Modem using the terminal.

Hi guys!

I need information on how to configure modem in "linux terminal", i just want to change some init string on my new modems by issuing AT command set, just like of "Hyperterminal" in windows.

Any help would be very much appreciated...thank you!

can you "telnet" to your modem from a linux terminal ?

eg. telnet <modem hostname or Ip address>

< i'm kinda clutching at straws with my answer here so dont worry if it doesnt work or doesnt make sense>

i dont think i can do telneting, since it is connected on serial port (com1).:).

another concern is, how do i configure linux terminal to accept only communication at 9600, 8-n-1?

hope somebody could give info on this, .:(
