After REBOOT whenever I try to boot thr’ 2.6.17 I get following error

Error is something like::::

Volume group "VolGroup00" not found
Unable to access resume device (/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01)
mount:could not find filesystem '/dev/root'
setuproot:moving /dev failed:No such file or directory
setuproot:error mounting /proc :No such file or directory
setuproot:error mounting /sys :No such file or directory

Shouldn't be such an big issue. Make sure that you include all relevant Filesystem modules, drivers, etc. in your initrd and keep going. I don't know what the RTI3.5 patch is. But do you need kernel 2.6.17 for that, while your system is running with 2.6.21?
