configuring grub???!!!

hello,

i am a newbie, been using linux for 2 days!

but i have a problem, when i get up in the morning i usually switch on my computer and then go chuck a piss. Now i have installed red hat Fedora 4 it bypasses the grub OS chooser thingy and loads straght into linux and if i want to choose say, windows i have to press a key to get in to the boot menu, this conflicts with the satisfaction of my urination. so i know that grub.conf chages the settings for grub, but i dont know which ones change what.

so my qustion is: how do i make grub boot staight into the boot menu?

Try this, I don't know how FC4 goes about this, but give it a try anyways:

Open

/boot/grub/menu.lst

look file a line that reads:

hiddenmenu

put a # before that to comment it out and give it a whirl. If you don't have a menu.lst, take a look-see in your grub.conf (you may just want to edit both to remove that line, if they both have it).

On my Ubuntu rig, it doesn't have the grub.conf, on my Gentoo rig it does. Just poke around and remove that line to bring back the menu...also set a nice long timeout. Nice story, by the way :)

hi there,
your solution is to first go to piss then switch on your system.
lol

what i'm being able to understand from your query is that by default its going to boot linux and not windows.
so do one thing......look out for your "grub.conf"
since you are using Fedora core, so it shoud be inside /etc.
i.e open /etc/grub.conf.
there will be a line "default = 0" or "default = 1"
if its =0 make it '1' and if its '1' then make it '0'

( i hope its by default 0 there, so make it one)
so this way it will by default boot the windows system.

regards
