Configure php.vim in vimrc

1 - I've put php.vim in ~/vim/syntax directory, and now I would like to set ~/.vimrc to use php.vim when I open a php file. How do I do it?

2 - Where can I learn more on how to write vimrc?

That's ~/.vim/syntax ... not ~/vim/syntax
