configure/make - output log

Does configure and make write a log file or is there an option to pass to make them do it? I can't see anything in the parameters you can pass to it.

make > out.log would write a file - but is there anyway so I can also get the output on screen?

Thanks

try "make | tee out.log"

tee will output the input stream to stdout and the given file.
Try "man tee" for other options.
