I have this modem and I though it was working and it wasn't untill I got dialup when I notice my modem is not configured and when I tried to install the modem with the network settings it apperently install a generic modem I think and there is no dial up when I try to connect, also I found dirvers (at least I think so, but they charge for something to go 56k) the website is http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/ I installed it but now I don't know how to install my modem or configure it, a friend toll me I migth need to configure the kernall or something I don't know how to find that, save it and load it, can someone help me on what I need to do next? THanks

Try typing (as root) in a terminal window (or while still in CLI) netconfig and tell us what happened. It's been a while since I used a modem in Linux so I'm not 100% on how to fix it anymore. I'll check through my notes and see. You also will probably need to install those drivers from linuxant.com if you haven't already.

did you install the drive ?
is it an rpm or tar.gz?
if it's rpm. you just have to set it up again using "neat" and your modem should been linked to /dev/modem.

For conexant I believe as root you run hsfconfig then this will install the modem drivers and link the proper /dev to /dev/modem. Once you have done this try kppp and query the modem it should find the modem now.
