I had same problem.

Dear Jefro,
I had same problem.
When I had created Live USB for Puppy Pricese 5.7.1 from my Desktop PC with OS Linux Mint 17 Cinemon.Live USB was reconised as CD ROM on my Desktop PC.This Live USB did not boot on my Laptop.
I had installed Linux Mint 16 Cinemon on my Laptop and created Live USB for Puppy Pricese 5.7.1.It boots on my Desktop PC and Laptop.
I think something is wrong with Mint 17.

I don't understand when a new version is released why a good (working) part of earliear version does not work.
In linux mint 17 Log in window Num Locj On/Off options is grayed (can not be selected),which worked perfectly ok in Mint 16.
I am a newbie ,do not know much about software, however I test most of the Packages with new releses.I have become Member probably only because of number of threads/Posts/Quotes.

That is quite a leap, I think what you meant to say is that 'you' could not get it to boot. Several days ago, I downloaded Linux Mint. I decided to put it on a flash drive and used unetbootin to do so. 15 minutes later, I was booted into the Linux Mint on the flash so it is not just Mint. Your post does not include any info on your hardware or the method you used to create the flash drive nor do you nor specifics on what happens when you try to boot.

I don't understand your comment about the Log In window. Since you indicate you can't boot from the flash drive, where are you getting a log in window?

I think we are talking apples and oranges.
