computer goes slow everyday at 3:00 why? it runs ld-linux.so.2

Hi, my computer goes slow everyday around 3:00 p.m.
I was checking and apparently ld-linux.so.2 starts running at this time with 40 %CPU and Xorg goes also to 40 %CPU.
Apparently, this only happens during the week at work, not in the weekends at home.
Is this related to my internet connections?
Why is this happening?
How can I fix it?
By the way, I am using Fedora 10 on a 64-bit machine.

ld-linux.so is just the loader. It sounds like a cron job starts at 3pm. Check in the daily folder and see if you can find out what cron job is running. Is your clock correct? Usually programs like updatedb don't run until around 3:00 AM.

It looks like you're hosting a usenet news mirror. That's probably going to take a long time to download and update. "mcelog" took 10 minutes. You might want to look into your logfiles to see if you have a problem.

It goes without saying that if you didn't deliberately setup an nntp server, then you need to check on it, like NOW, as you are probably compromised, and may be an unwitting illegal porn provider.

These are the lines I was talking about. Granted, it's not taking all that long to run these three processes, but I'd think that you would know something about them if you had purposefully installed them.

I believe that "nntpsend" probably updates your local usenet news mirror from some other mirror. "rnews" is another internet news server. If you don't know what they are, why are they installed on your machine?

"mcelog" logs machine check exceptions. I'd be surprised if this was on your machine unless you knew that you had installed it and why.

So, this begs the question of whether this is your personal machine, or a machine that you've been assigned to at work because you had at least heard of Linux. Can you elaborate what this machine is, where it is (work or home, not the address or company), and what it's use for?
