It seems to have a problem with your fglrx driver. Does your video work ok?

I'm sorry. I don't understand what that means. What graphics card does your system have?

Ok, so your problem is only shutting down? Not starting up?
Can you post the output of this command:
Code:
lsmod |grep fglrx
jdk

So there is no problem starting up? Everything works normally until you want to shut down your system, is that correct? Is there are reason you shut down from a terminal rather than from the Exit menu on your desktop? If you try to exit normally from the desktop menu do you still get the freezing effect?

I'd say replace the fglrx module by one from the kernel you use and see if the problem disappears.

fglrx is a non-free module that you must have installed at some point. I haven't used it for years because the free module works just fine for the radeon cards I've used. So try removing fglrx and see if that solves your problem.
