i would start another thread for that problem.

also, what was wrong with your linux mint install ? i guess i didnt make it perfectly clear but since you stated that your wifi card works with other wireless access points then it is obvious to me that the wireless card in the laptop is working but your android phone's wireless tether is not working (you never mention what model/ service you have).

Guessing its a big problem then ?

I love the peppermint linux i have been using off my memory stick but i just havent got around to instaling it onto my netbook yet. And yes the wireless card does work as it will connect to other networks just not my phone witch is Motorola Defy, Android 2.1, T-Mobile.

hmm, i dont have experience with android fones. can you try connecting to your network and pinging stuff like:
192.168.1.1
192.168.0.1
192.168.1.0
192.168.0.0
64.235.229.141
www.02144.com

can you copy down the ip addresses for stuff like (gateway, dns, ip, network mask) from a working computer ?

else, i am stumped.

edit: i shouldve asked for this before but can you please show us the output for this command:
Code:
route -n
maybe someone will be able to decipher it.
and the outside chance your firewall is preventing access please show us the output of:
Code:
sudo iptables -L -n
