Complete newb please help
Hey i am a hardcore windows user but i have 6 machines in my house and i really want to learn linux i downloaded mandrake 9.2 and am in the prossess of installing it on one of my machines the only problem is i have no idea what i am doing i don't know commands or anything is there some site or anything out there that will give me a good well rounded start on using linux?
i am sure i will be coming here for questions when i actually learn the thing somewhat thanks a ton |
mandrake has good point and click tools, so you probablly won't need the command line at first, just click stuff and see what it does. here's alot of the most used commands http://www.oreillynet.com/linux/cmd/ probably the best book (IMHO) is 'running linux' http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/runux4/

thanks but i am guess i am looking more for a linux for dummies ebook or something on that kinda level

These sites will help in your quest for information. If you have a specific question, come back here and do a search first. You might find the answer quicker with a search. If you can't find the answer, then ask away, and someone should be able to help. In my sig below, there are some sites to help you learn about linux commands.
http://www.distrowatch.com/table.php...ution=mandrake http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en-us/ http://www.mandrake.tips.4.free.fr/ http://www.zebulon.org.uk/ http://www.desktopmandrake.cjb.net/articles.htm http://www.google.com/linux |
