compleat newbie, need any help there is

Hello all
this is my first attempt get away from windows. I have so many questions I’m unsure where to begin. I just got zorin os 9 ultimate and so far have gotten online but that is all. I cant access my DVD player, or download my windows games from my thumb-drive. also i have Mozilla for my browser but google keeps trying to take over. also cannot play movies on net-flex or Amazon. In other words i am a helpless newbie. After i have posted my first thread i'm going to try find similar threads. By the way I'm mike. thanks for your time.

You've probably made the wrong choice of distro. If you wanted something that works
from the install then you need a distro that comes with flashplayer and audio/video
codecs already installed like linux Mint.

Anyway, as Zorin is based on Ubuntu open a terminal and type:

sudo apt-get install adobe-flashplugin

Try and see if youtube videos work on Firefox.

Netflix is different however and seraching "netflix linux" on google has many
results. Among the best answers is below:

Not sure, but I believe Chrome is the only browser which has DRM support in Linux to watch Netflix, etc.

Hi.

Check the first link in my "signature," (mind the waves;) you can use Google Chrome to play Amazon (@lest I have to ) and
Code:

man
Rome wasn't destroyed in a day! ;)

Mike,

Welcome to LQ.

Just keep searching the LQ forums and using Google (or other) to find answers.

Failing that, just ask questions on here. Most of us don't bite!

It is simply a gradual learning process.

We ALL had to start somewhere.
