That particular adjustment is actually in "3D Windows", not in "Rotate Cube".

In 3D Windows, on the Misc. Options tab, adjust Minimum Cube Size up or down depending on how far out you want it to go.

tried doesn't seem to have any effect

my graphics card is a Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M. may sound stupid but could it be that the card is s**t so its not capable of some effects?

if your card will do 3D it should do the effects. It's a setting in compiz that needs to be changed. Have a look in rotate cube settings. I know it's in there. I just can't remember where.

4500M actually isn't bad considering it's onboard. It's no GTX200 series but still, should handle it with no problems. Agreed it's a setting in Compiz; is your version of Compiz up to date?

its v1:0.8xxx so i think so

played around for a while last night and there's definitely something wrong with the 3d windows option as they don't lift of cube etc etc,
strange really considerin all my compiz is from karmics repo (usin mint 8),
thanks for the help people but looks like we're at a dead end

The 3D windows coming off the cube is a different setting entirely. Do you have both plugins-main and plugins-extra installed?

Hey now, this is Linux; there are no dead-ends, only temporary road-blocks.

If you want, dig up your Default.ini config file (should be in something like /home/$USER/.config/compiz/compizconfig) and post it, along with any other settings you can think of; I know it's damn frustrating when you know something "should" work but doesn't.

try-alls 02-21-2010 05:37 AM

yeah got both plugins,
as for default.ini can't find it anywhere in /home/.compiz i have only got a session folder which has 3 files named in numbers and the compizconfig folder on filesystem only gives me this:

[general]
integration = true
backend = ini

[gnome_session]
integration = true
backend = gconf

[kde_session]
integration = true
backend = kconfig

the plugins i have ticked are:

general
commands
gnome compatibility

accessibilty
negative

desktop
desktop cube
rotate cube

effects
3d windows
animations
animations add-on
window decorations
wobbly windows

extras
annotate (what ever the hell that is lol)
window previews

image loading
jpeg -through to- text

utility
crash handler
dbus
glib
mouse position polling
regex matching
scale addons
session management
video playback
wallpaper
workarounds

window management
extra wm actions
move window
place windows
resize window
scale
...............................

and that everything (never got my head around using 'git' to try the other compiz stuff

you all have permission to laugh:

the reason i couldn't move my cube (or triangle at moment) is that i didn't know i had to press CTRL+ALT+LEFT MOUSE BUTTON

thanks again for all you help is there any other add-ons that you'd recommend the unsupported plugins are a bit lame in my opinion
i like the idea of items in my cube but not keen on fish or gears.
